Men's Hairstyle Trends
I mostly talk about subjects geared towards women, but today I have a post for the men!  As a hairstylist, I see a lot of trends come and go. The biggest trend I am seeing right now is the 1950's look.  I am so in love with this look.  It is classic,  timeless, and very clean cut.

This look is the "classic" all about the deep part,  hair gel,
and the visible line of where the teeth of the comb went through.

Here is a more disheveled version of that look.

Here is a Modern take on this vintage look.  I love this for the short tapered sides!
(and i just love Maklemore)

hope you enjoyed and would consider trying this out, or making your boyfriends try them!

NEW OBSESSION

CRIMPED HAIR

OMG... I am so in love with wavy crimped hair for this summer.  It is so much fun to dress up a hot summer night or casual with a half-up, half-down look. Take a look!

HOW IS IT DONE?

Most people use a wave iron like the one shown below.  This is the easiest way to do it on yourself. When I do this on other people, I use a curling iron.

You should try it out!

TREND ALERT

TREND ALERT

A trend I am seeing a lot for summer is the use of COMPLEMENTARY COLORS!

What are complementary colors?

Well, they are the colors that are opposites of each other on the color wheel.

Just think sport teams:

Denver Broncos are BLUE and ORANGE

LA Lakers are PURPLE and YELLOW

Christmas is GREEN and RED

I took an art class once and we did a cool activity where we took a red paint swatch and held it up to a white wall.  After we stared at it for 45 seconds and took the paper away, we saw a green square on the wall. Weird right?  But so cool!

Why are they called complementary colors?

They compliment each other!  DUH!
Here are two swatches of the SAME red color. One next to green and one next to orange.
Which red looks more intense?

The Red next to the green is so much more intense!

Here is Chloe Kardashian in an awesome Printed Clover Canyon dress. Notice how the bag and shoe look super intense?  That is because the main color on the dress is blue so it is helping the accessories stand out.
This is a perfect color to wear on a RED carpet if you want to stand out!
Need I say more?

Hope you all catch on to this amazing trend!

ALL ABOUT ME

HEY GUYS!

I am sure most you you guys know me by now but I just wanted to write a short profile!  Many of you are confused on whether I am a designer, stylist, hairstylist, or make up artist.

Well.....

I am all FOUR!
A few people had asked me why my blog has such a wide range of subjects and all I tell them is that I write about what I know.  Lets just say I keep myself super busy!

I started teaching myself to sew at the age of 12.
During that time, I was also very interested in doing hair, using my mom and sister and mannequins.
They didn't like that very much but they let me play sometimes.  HAH!

I started taking Fashion Design classes during my Junior and Senior year of high school. Launching my first collection at the age of 17,  I  could only afford to use my friends as models, and of course, I did their hair and make up for each fashion show!

Upon graduation from school,  I worked with many designers and have had my own personal designs worn on TMZ.com, the Real housewives of DC, and Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen.

This was my DREAM and my PASSION but MOM and DAD thought I should think of getting a back up job that would pay the bills.  I hate being an adult by the way!

I attended college for two years but hated what I did.  The same routine everyday:
8:00 am      wake up
9:00 am        class 1
11:30 am      class 2
1:30 pm          work
7:00 pm        class 3
9:00 pm           Sew
12:00 am         Sleep

I came home with a MIGRAINE EVERYDAY! It was horrible!

So I told Mom and Dad I am going to hair school.  They were hesitant but I was SURE! I told them that if I were to get stuck with something other than fashion,  I would like to be stuck doing something I love. That was the best decision I ever made.
I was still designing and launched my first full collection while I was in cosmetology school... and then my second collection.
(I was doing this while working two separate part time jobs)

From Hair school I fell in love with Make up and now I am pursuing
to become a Professional Make Up artist.

I am a Man of Many Trades...also I cant sit still.  what can I say? hahaha
There is the story of my life.  Well kinda.

Thanks for reading

NEW OBSESSION

HEY GUYS!

Sorry it has been so long since I had posted a blog, but I am BACK!

For this week, I a currently obsessed with the sock bun!

OMG I know the sock bun has been around for a bit now but... How amazing is it?

It is so easy to just toss it up and go.
Maybe the new alternative to a bad hair day?!?

I would say for work wear it a bit below your crown

To make it a bit more youthful, wear it centered on your crown or even higher.

You can also jazz up sock buns with ACCESSORIES!
  I mean ACCESSORIES ARE EVERYTHING.

Here she has it with a cute headband!

I love the FUN bow she has on this sock bun!

Another way to jazz up the sock bun is to wrap it with a braid

.  I have attached a video with a tutorial on how to create a sock bun! Enjoy.
